Where Education Shapes Childhood
At Starbright, education is designed with intention — combining strong foundations, creativity and global perspectives to nurture confident young learners.
The Thinking Behind Starbright
At Starbright, early childhood education is not approached as a checklist of academic milestones.
Instead, it is designed as a balanced learning journey that nurtures both intellectual development and emotional growth.
Our philosophy is built on the belief that children learn best when strong foundations are paired with curiosity, creativity and meaningful exploration.
This perspective shapes how we design our classrooms, curriculum and daily learning experiences.
Global Perspectives in Early Childhood Education
Starbright’s curriculum development is guided by Wee Ai, who studied Early Childhood Education in both China and the United Kingdom.
Her academic training and teaching experience across different educational systems bring a broader perspective to early childhood learning.
While Eastern education often emphasizes strong academic foundations and discipline, Western approaches encourage creativity, exploration and independent thinking.
At Starbright, we believe children benefit from both — a balanced approach that builds confident, curious and capable learners.
Our Leadership
Ms Kiko Khaw
Founder | Since 2000
“Music is one of the first languages of childhood.” This belief has guided Madam Khaw for over twenty years.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), she began her career at Starbright as a music teacher — and it was in those years that she discovered something bigger than music: a deep curiosity about how young children learn and make sense of the world.
When the opportunity came to lead Starbright, she had never planned to run a school — but Starbright was home, to the children, and to her. Since then, she has earned a Diploma in Montessori Education and pursued further training in child development.
Today, Madam Khaw remains the heart of Starbright. She believes that the best classrooms, like the best music, have rhythm — moments of energy and spaces for every child to find their own voice. Because when a classroom feels like home, children feels seen, heard, and ready to shine.

Ms Wee AI
Ms Wee Ai has studied in Beijing, taught in London, and built a curriculum in Malaysia. Every classroom at Starbright has been shaped by her hand.
She holds a Master’s degree in Early Years Education from University College London (UCL) and a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education from Beijing Normal University. Having lived and taught across both cities, she has seen how each culture approaches childhood differently, and believes there is wisdom in both.
This cross-cultural experience has shaped the way she designs curriculum at Starbright, thoughtfully blending Eastern and Western pedagogies within the cultural context of Malaysia, giving every classroom its warmth, a place where children feel at home.
Her focus is on nurturing the essential skills children need to thrive in the 21st century — creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence — giving them roots to grow and wings to explore. For her, the most rewarding moment is always the simplest — a child’s eyes bright with a new idea.
What This Means for Children
At Starbright, children grow in an environment where strong academic foundations are balanced with creativity, curiosity and confidence.
Our classrooms encourage exploration, meaningful learning and the development of independent thinking.
More importantly, we aim to nurture children who not only succeed in school, but who also develop a lifelong love for learning.
